A huge water reservoir is created in the South of Turkey. Turkey has just put the Illisu Dam into operation. It jams the Tigris. Hasankeyf, one of the oldest settlement of human beings, will be soon under waters.
The photographer Mehmet Kaçmaz from Nar Photos artistically documented the last days of the settlement in Hasankeyf under the title History Displaced.
The Hasankeyf settlement is at least 12,000 years old. History slumbers in the rock strata.
Nar Photos is an independent collective established in 2003 by photographers in Turkey for whom documentary photography is a visual tool of „understanding and expressing“ the world.
