entropyTV in Gülpinar

entropyTV

video-workshop

Thomas Büsch and Sabine Küper developed for the association Diyalog under the title entropyTV a video-workshop series targeting on young people, mostly non-film professionals. The first workshop of these series took place in the rural area Gülp?nar, province Canakkale Turkey, during the ‘meeting-point’ festival in August 2007.
The course leader Thomas Büsch and Sabine Küper designed a film narration based on the history of moving image in a wide spectrum that enables even non-film professionals without editing knowledge to create video clips that reflect and articulate their private lives, their expectations and documents the conditions of their environment.
The project in Gülp?nar consisted of a 6 days workshop with participants from Turkey, Netherlands, USA, Poland and Germany. After having sessions for developing ideas for short narratives, the participants moved into the hands-on process of shooting. The course concentrated on ways of transforming the idea from conception into a narrative. Subsequently these digital videos were published as part of the workshop over the Internet, in the section of entropyTV of the Diyalog web site.

Based on our experiences we collected during this workshop and our professional knowledge we will develop and modify a workshop series that can take place in different districts of Istanbul targeting on the local residents with the objective that participants will produce short video films. These short movies will show and reflect the different urban living conditions of various districts of Istanbul; they will document the wishes and expectations of its residents regarding its urban developments and further more it will open a platform by publishing the outcomes on the Internet as part of the workshop, enabling a wide rang of participants to discuss the ongoing urban progress and to participate online into this discourse.

The final results and outcomes of the workshops will be presented 1. Online as a kind of indexed interactive video archive, 2. Within an exhibition taking place 2010 as projections documenting living conditions and urban problems in different districts of Istanbul and 3. As a DVD with a documentation of the same subject based on the workshop and additional researches.
